The funds are intended for projects and plant extension in the next 3 years. Swoboda wants to expand and enhance its current location in 4108 52nd Street SE by around 2,300 square meters to improve its production and development opportunities and thus increase its production capacity. Michigan Strategic Fund's performance-oriented high technology development program accompanies the company's expansion and continued investments in Michigan.
To assist in the search for talent and to recruit and train new employees, West Michigan Works! provides funding at the beginning of the recruitment process for human resource development. The organization intends to support the company with a number of assistance services, ranging from reliability tests candidates (pre-employment screening) to internal training at the workplace. "West Michigan Works! has set itself the task to develop a skilled workforce for our region," said Deb Lyzenga, Regional Director of Business Solutions at West Michigan Works! "We have worked together with Swoboda on a number of projects, which focused on the further training of employees and the development of an internal pipeline of young talent. We are pleased to be an integral part of the expansion project."
The city of Kentwood is also supporting this expansion step and, due to Swoboda's capital investment, is considering granting a tax concession under § 198 PA.
"Kentwood is very fortunate to have Swoboda Inc. as a partner. In recent years, the city has benefited to a large extent on the continued growth and success of Swoboda as high-tech automotive supplier, in terms of creating new jobs and investments. We are very proud that we can encourage and support the expansion of Swoboda in Kentwood, and we wish the company continued success."
